Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, dial 100 or 617-253-1212 for immediate emergency assistance. Campus emergencies range from a fire in a laboratory to a loss of power to a severe weather incident to a natural or man-made disaster. The MIT Preparedness and Response provides information on campus emergencies, guidance for developing campus and personal preparedness plans in the event of an emergency, and travel advisories. Telephone numbers for emergency responders and information lines are available at the site, including:

  • (24-hour police, ambulance, fire, first aid, dean on call);
  • Medical;
  • Emergency closings;
  • Facilities;
  • Environment, Health & Safety; and
  • Personal safety resources such as SafeRide and Nightline.

EHS Contact Information

From general personal safety to lab safety and campus safety, MIT provides a variety of resources to help the Institute work and live in a productive and healthy environment. MIT's EHS Office and your department, lab or center (DLC) EHS Coordinator work together to ensure EHS compliance and best practices. Your EHS Coordinator also works with the EHS Representatives who report to your PIs or supervisors to address day-to-day EHS concerns, including EHS Training and EHS Waste Management.
